Free Church Bulletin Templates for Every Season

One of the small joys of being a church secretary is getting to adapt the bulletin to the rhythms of the church calendar - the solemnity of Advent, the joy of Easter morning, the ease of ordinary time. The right template can quietly signal the season without a word.

Here's a guide to the templates available in SundayBulletin, including which styles work best for which seasons and occasions.

For Ordinary Sundays: Classic and Modern

The Classic template is the right choice for most Sunday mornings. It uses a traditional serif font (Merriweather, similar to Times New Roman) with ruled lines separating sections - the format most congregations have seen in bulletin form for decades. It's formal without being stiff, and it works equally well for a 30-person country church and a 3,000-member congregation.

The Modern template suits churches with a contemporary worship style. It has a bold navy header, clean sans-serif text throughout, and more visual breathing room. If your church projects song lyrics on a screen rather than reading from a hymnal, Modern probably matches your worship aesthetic.

For a Warm, Community Feel: Warm Template

The Warm template uses earth tones - cream backgrounds, golden accents, soft borders around each section. It feels more like a letter from a friend than a formal church program. Smaller, tight-knit congregations often find this template best captures their character.

The Warm template works especially well for:

• Small congregations where everyone knows everyone
• Harvest and Thanksgiving services
• Fall and winter ordinary time
• Church anniversary celebrations

For Special Services: Elegant Template (Pro)

The Elegant template is built for occasions that call for a more refined presentation. It uses thin gold accent bars alongside each section, generous white space, and a centered header with a small decorative rule. It's the template to reach for when:

• Ordination services
• Installation of church officers
• Memorial services
• Wedding services
• Christmas Eve candlelight services
• Easter Sunday

For High-Energy Contexts: Bold Template (Pro)

The Bold template inverts the usual color scheme - navy blue background with white text and gold accents. It's striking and contemporary, and it photographs well if your church shares bulletin photos on social media. It works best for:

• Contemporary worship services
• Youth services and events
• Special outreach or community events
• Church anniversary and celebration services

For Accessibility: Simple Template (Pro)

The Simple template prioritizes readability above all else. Larger text, more line spacing, maximum contrast, minimal visual decoration. This template is the right choice when your primary concern is that every member of your congregation - including those with vision impairments - can read the bulletin easily.

Consider Simple when:

• Your congregation skews older
• You're printing for a service with many visitors who may not be regular churchgoers
• Your printer produces lower-quality output and you need maximum legibility

All templates are available directly in the bulletin creator. After generating your bulletin from your notes, you'll see a template selector bar at the top of the preview panel. Click any template to see an instant preview with your actual content.

Free accounts can use the Classic, Modern, and Warm templates. Pro accounts unlock all six templates, including Elegant, Bold, and Simple, plus any seasonal templates we add.

Seasonal Template Tips

Advent

The Elegant template with its gold accents pairs beautifully with Advent's anticipatory themes. Include the week's Advent candle focus (Hope, Peace, Joy, Love) as a section header, and note which candles have been lit.

Christmas

For Christmas Eve services, the Elegant template conveys the significance of the occasion. Christmas morning can use any template - the joy speaks for itself.

Lent

The Classic template's more austere, traditional feel suits the solemnity of Lent. You might include a brief Lenten reflection or scripture in the header area.

Easter

Easter Sunday is the highest feast of the Christian year. The Elegant or Warm template both work well - Elegant for the formal, joyful celebration; Warm for the sense of the whole congregation as family gathered together.

Pentecost

The Modern template's energy and bold colors work well for Pentecost. Consider adding the traditional Pentecost greeting "Come, Holy Spirit" somewhere in the header or as an introductory line.
